Peter Moores believes England will name their strongest side for their first one-day international against South Africa, and leave Jason Roy out. Roy is a doubt for the game as he is suffering from a back spasm, and current head coach Trevor Bayliss will leave his selection for the opening match at Bloemfontein until the last minute.Moores, who preceded Bayliss in the top England job, feels there is enough depth in the squad to compensate for the potential absence of Roy - and is not convinced the Surrey batsman should be selected anyway. Hell want (Jason) Roy fit and hes in a lovely position, which is also a hard position, of having one too many batsmen, Moores told Sky Sports News HQ. Bob Willis picks his strongest England T20 squad for next years tournament Roy and (Alex) Hales have done well up front, James Taylor has done well in the middle and (Joe) Root and (Ben) Stokes are definitely going to come back in, although they could rest those two.Theyve had a lot of cricket and Trevor will be thinking this is a good position for him. Youve had AB de Villiers left out of the South Africa team because he was fatigued. But on the other hand, Stokes and Root are definitely going to want to play, and theyre in your best team so I think theyre going to go in.If Jason doesnt make it then its going to delay making that decision until further down the line. Roy talks about his breakthrough hundred in the last ODI and keeping the momentum going into the T20s Moores also feels England have good depth in the bowling department, where he feels Chris Jordan of Sussex may miss out in favour of two left-handed seamers, and Adil Rashid should be given more match time to build his growing confidence.I think he (Jordan) might struggle to get in, said Moores. I think the two left-armers, (David) Willey and (Reece) Topley, will get in and then its whether they go for (Chris) Woakes or have a look at Stuart Broad, to get wickets at the top of the order.Adil will play, or at least I hope he will, then if Jason doesnt make it youve got the two spinners in the side with Moeen there too.He played very well in the Big Bash and hes a confidence player that is growing in confidence. Theyll want to see him keep going because he could be a key player for us in the T20 World Cup. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Canadas players gathered on their knees at one end of the court over the Olympic rings, taking it in together for a final time. Their special Rio run was over, but Blair Cameron Bann was already turning his attention to four years from now.The teams libero offered this to his dejected, overachieving teammates: What do we got to do for 2020?After their huddle, the players thanked their cheering fans at Maracanazinho arena and the supporters back home who embraced their strides in a sport that falls below other beloved ones there such as hockey or curling.I wish we could have put a little bit more out there for Canada and for the fans that came here to support us and for ourselves, Bann said. Im sure in a few days well look back and be happy with our tournament. Just qualifying was really big for our country. To do well and win some games here against some top-ranked teams, hopefully it keeps us going in the right direction -- and we dont stop here, we keep going, keep improving.Canada lost in straight sets to defending Olympic champion Russia in the quarterfinals Wednesday, a match that went far faster than anybody liked. Yet even in the immediate sting of defeat the Canadians realized just how far they had come to leave their mark in Brazil and beyond. They were the last one into the 12-team tournament, having qualified in a last-chance event in Tokyo just over two months ago.ddddddddddddaptain Frederic Winters shared a warm hug afterward with his mother, Maggie Pajak. The finish is so bittersweet, and Canadas long flight home will certainly feature some reflection by the players and staff. They are thrilled that young kids are inquiring about national programs, so the interest is building by the day.Well take some time and look back at where we got to, and I think well be pretty proud of what weve done. Its hard to look at that now though, setter Jay Blankenau said. Its a huge step for volleyball in Canada to keep improving and use this as kind of a benchmark of what we can accomplish and try to be better and stronger next time.As coach Glenn Hoag prepares to step aside after more than 10 years in charge and a winning culture in place, many players expressed their desire to stick with the national team and try again in Tokyo. We dont want to be happy with just this, John Gordon Perrin said. We are in this moment, we enjoyed it and it was such a good feeling to play in these games at this level. We want to give ourselves the reminder: We want to be at this level and we want to play at the highest level in the world, and we want to be in 2020. We want to consistently do it. ' ' '
